"Wisdom" regarding fitness and health is constantly evolving. This is sometimes frustrating, but I was pleased to see this recent story in my Associated Press app titled, "No pain, No gain? Hardly. Today's fitness buzzword is 'Recovery'." The story elaborates on the point that there is a difference between training for health and training for elite performance. This applies to both the intensity of the work and the recovery time for your muscles. In general, depending on your goals, you still need to push a bit. But if you feel pain in joints, tendons or muscles, stop. Move to a different muscle group or call it a day. After weight training, allow each muscle group 48 hours recovery time.
